It was the end of the second "five-coach
decade of defeat" but with 21 wins (1975-84). The (1953-62)
decade had 19 wins. Coach Q's A-Team narrowly lost seven games
by one scoring drive or less. Bruce Fagert was the chief engineer
of the first back-to-back thousand-yard passing seasons for AHS.
John Bonfiglio was the MVP. Kicker Steve Yoder and sophomore Joe
Massie were the leading scorers with 26 points. The future looked
brighter when Dave Gray and Russ Harpster led a stadium renovation
project with new lights. |
