Roosevelt Robinson closed out his brilliant career with over 4,000 yards and 400 points. Coach Lloyd Dunne's Arrows won their 4th straight title and 19th straight league win. The chant "CCC" became synonymous with AHS football. In a rivalry commensurate with Mansfield in the 20's and 30's Shelby prevented an A's perfect season. In the final UPI poll the Whippets were ranked 11th in the State and Ashland finished in 18th place. The most outstanding awards went to linemen Larry Funk and Joel Smith and backs Jim Shideler and the celebrated "Rosey."
