The Cardinal Conference was down to five teams and the Arrow hopes were up with 23 returning lettermen. However, the only two wins came at home on the Parents Night and the Fan Appreciation games. Four times: Galion, Shelby, Malabar, and Wooster scored the winning touchdown in the 4th quarter, plus the Arrow's comeback against Madison fell short in the final period. Then, in the final 3-minutes of the season Chuck Ritchey scored the winning TD against Mansfield Senior. Leading tackler (106) Steve Freelon was the MVP. The offense was led by QB Bruce Fagert (94 of 196 for 1143 yds for 5 TDs) and Matt Johnson (38 catches for 548 yds for 3 TDs).
