The Arrow's triple option Veer offense
was crippled, when injuries occurred to the entire starting backfield.
Jim Fowler was the third back in four years to average over 6-yards
per carry (903 yards in 8 games). Malabar ended the A's 8-game
unbeaten streak at Arlin Field, which they called their "second
home field." That loss began a five-game losing streak and
started another ten consecutive losing seasons. Gary Mularz (106
tackles) and Tom Fulk (91 tackles) were the top defensive players.
Tony Kulka was the most improved, while Steve Garrett and MVP
Jim Fowler earned the offensive awards. |
