The A's returned to Myers Field for
back-to-back undefeated seasons. They ran their win streak to
21 straight the longest streak in Ohio and a 15th place rating
in the INS poll. Jim Roseboro again rushed for a thousand yards
(1026) and was picked 1st team All-Ohio by the AP voters. In a
battle of unbeatens the Shelby game with 3,800 spectators was
the greatest victory since the 1940 Mansfield game. Co-Capt. Bill
Springer's 93-yard kickoff return against Galion was the longest
play of the season. Dave Grindle threw 9 TD passes. Coach Taylor
was 8th in the balloting for Ohio Coach of the Year. Chuck Mather
of Massillon, who won that INS ballot, was the Booster's football
banquet speaker. |
