Coaches Richards, Matthews, and Ganyard had the most in-experienced squad in years. Graduation and move aways forced a rebuilding year for them. Luther Frentz scored the only touchdown of the season. Russell Sonnors at center and end Floyd Joel anchored the line play. Ashland joined the Northern Ohio High School Athletic Association that year. Still AHS almost severed relations with Wooster because of the unsportsmanlike conduct of Coach Carl Weygandt. He had denounced the home officials on three straight visits in basketball, baseball, and football.
