The new coach Thomas H. Moore, a local attorney, molded two seniors (Harold Smith and
Otis Johnson), five sophomores, and five freshmen into the beginning of a great era. Moore was
an AHS '02 grad and a former player at Ohio Northern Univ. The second year was one of several historic first's at AHS. Mont Gallaher threw the first AHS touchdown pass to Leo Brubaker. Harold Smith dropkicked the first field goal, and Martin Moore, the coach's brother, had the first punt return for a TD.
It was 55-yards. The Thanksgiving Day game at the Fairgrounds was the first game with Mansfield High School.
