The brothers Johnson (Maurice & Paul) and Query (twins William & David) led AHS to 2nd place in the NCO. Leading scorer "Hap" Johnson led an 80-yard scoring drive to tie Shelby on a QB sneak in the final minute. Bill Query's memorable 60-yard touchdown on the opening play inspired the third win in four years against Mansfield. The all-league lineman were: Delbert Caton, who returned a fumble 85-yards for a TD against Marion, and Capt. Don McEntire, who started for his third year.
